I dream of a world where we work towards changing our habits in order to more positively impact the people and places we love most. Just like our company namesake, the little hummingbird who did what she could to put out the forest fire, a few drops at a time, I hope we each do the best we can with the resources we have to contribute to the greater good. I treasure this idea.
By starting with decisions that benefit our bodies, our minds and our planet, I believe that we can create a better world for everyone on Earth, each and every day.
I am the mother of a four year-old and a two year-old living in Tokyo. Raising children has given me many opportunities to reconsider my thoughts and actions, causing me to pause and think about the best course of action.
Living in this megalopolis, I am often aware how estranged we can be from environmental issues. Yet even so, I can feel the effects of recent natural disasters and abnormal climatic conditions in the air around me. This has caused me to be worried for my children’s future. Which is why, I am happy to contribute to Hummingbirds as one step in the right direction towards positive change.
I’ve always loved nature, ever since I was a child. When I grew up, I knew I wanted to work protecting animals and our planet, and to this end I worked at an environmental educational organization and lived and worked on a natural farm, to learn how to live off the land.
However, a part of me felt anxiety—that none of my activities would really help solve the climate crisis. I ended up quitting my job and moved to Indonesia to study yoga.
Indonesia taught me so much and gave me the chance to truly change. The only thing I could do was to change myself, but I knew if I did, those around me would be positively affected.

I believe deeply in living in harmony with the earth and with one another. With a background in filmmaking and education, I have done what I can to shed light on environmental and social justice issues. As a mindfulness teacher and facilitator, I also enjoy deep one-to-one connection with others, and being a catalyst towards empowerment and changemaking. I am proud of Hummingbird’s mindful team, and the initiatives we’re working on to help others act on what they love.
